Yamel Melchor began her educational journey in 2006 as a bilingual teacher at Cage ES. After seven years as a teacher, she served as a teacher specialist and instructional specialist at Whittier ES and was named their assistant principal in 2020. Melchor has been recognized with several awards, including First Year Assistant Principal of the Year and Tier II Excellence in Leadership. Melchor earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston and her master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Texas-Austin.
