A product of HISD, she attended Brookline and Lovett elementary schools, Tanglewood Middle School and Madison High School. Her experience ranges from being a special education teacher, SPED and ESL department chairperson, and teacher/instructional specialist on the elementary, middle and high school levels. Williams has also held positions at Patrick Henry Middle School, Neff Elementary School, and Austin and Madison high schools. She holds a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Special Education from Prairie View A&M University and a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston-Downtown.
Our program serves and supports students from every community. Students may be homebound, hospitalized, in agencies, pregnant or parenting, and are temporarily unable to attend a traditional school.
At Community Services, our programs address the needs of students who are confined to their homes, partner hospitals or partner agency sites and are unable to receive instruction in a typical classroom setting. Both general and special education services are available to students. Working closely with parents, home-zoned schools, physicians and partnering local agencies, Community Services teachers and staff provide appropriate instruction from kindergarten through grade twelve. Community Services programs are temporary placements based on identified medical need.
Both HISD and out of district students are eligible to apply for services in our programs. See the Community Services website for complete list of eligibility criteria by program.
Personnel at the student’s home campus compile referral data and each student undergoes an individualized process to determine eligibility and placement. Partnering hospitals/agencies assist in identifying students for services. PRS students are referred through campus PRS liaisons.
