University of North Texas – Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (tuition free) The Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) is a residential program located at the University of North Texas in Denton that is focused on students who wish to pursue a career in mathematics, science, or engineering. The program admits up to 200 students every year from public and private high schools from across Texas. After two years (four semesters) at TAMS, students graduate with a high school diploma and about 60 college credits - which may be enough to start the college junior year at UNT or other universities.
