Art I is an introductory course where you will learn basic skills such as: the elements of art, basic drawing skills, modern art styles, and work with a wide variety of media. Some of the projects in Art 1 include:

- Painting
- Printmaking
- Watercolor

D R A W I N G II/III/IV
Focus will be placed on the development of compositional skills and imaginative use of the elements and principles of design through various techniques and problem-solving skills. Drawing media that is explored through these courses are:
- Pencil
- Prismacolor
- Charcoal
- Pastels
- Pen and ink
- Charcoal
S C U L P T U R E II/III
Students will learn about and use different types of media for producing sculpture, ceramics, and fibers. Some sculptural media that might be introduced to students are:
- Clay
- Paper
- Wood
- Wire
- Metal
P A I N T I N G II/III
These courses emphasize painting materials, techniques and the study of artists who have utilized painting to express their ideas. Media that may be introduced include:
- Watercolor
- Tempera
- mixed media
- acrylics
- oil
A P / P R E – A P S T U D I O A R T
The Advanced Placement Studio course enables highly motivated students to do college- level work while still in high school. This class is self-driven and focused on exploration and experimentation to build your techniques in whichever medium and subject matter you choose. During these classes you will be focused on building your College Board portfolio and is intended for students seriously committed to the study of art.

Hello! My name is Cristin Hlinak and this is my 11th year of teaching art, but my first year at Sharpstown High School and am very excited to be here! This year I am teaching Art 1, Drawing II/III/IV, Pre-Ap Studio Art, and AP Studio Art. When I am not teaching I draw, paint, and am a metalsmith. I am looking forward to seeing all your faces!
