  • What types of items are always needed?

    The types of items that we always need include but are not limited to the following:

    -School appropriate clothing and undergarments (NEW ONLY) for girls and boys grades 4 - 8

    -Sneakers and NEW SOCKS ONLY for students grades 4 - 8

    -Emergency food items (Examples: Rice, DRY beans (black,red,pinto etc), canned vegetables, tomato sauce, baby food, formula, cereal, ramen/pasta, snack items, maseca, whole wheat flower, vegetable and olive oil, caldo de pollo, lentils,and soup packets etc.) ****If you are able to prepare region specific food bags we deeply appreicate it (example: Families from Afghanistan; Ethiopia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Congo, Colombia, Venezuela etc....)

    -Household items (Examples: Cookware, bedding, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, dish soap, towels, inflatable mattresses, rice cookers, pots and pans, cooking utensils etc.)

    -Personal items (Examples: Hygiene items, backpacks, reusable water bottles, umbrellas)

    -Gift Cards to have on hand to purchase any of the above listed items as needed helps us (Example: Fiesta, HEB, Aldi, Amazon, Walmart, Target etc.)

    -Contact our main office at (713) 773-5300 during school hours, Monday - Friday

    -Email our Wraparound Specialist, who maintains our on-site Closet of Hope (resource room) for our families and surrounding community: Lindsey.Brook@houstonisd.org
