• Mr. Barrera

    My name is Carlos Barrera. I have been a teacher at Elrod Elementary for twenty-two years. I have taught third and fourth grade math and science with excellent scores every year. I believe every student is unique and has the right of his/her own free development. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as part of a scientific team in my country of origin, Colombia. That experience helped me to understand the value of education in life. Mi mission as an educator is to help my students to become the best person they can be and to use the academic knowledge to achieve that goal. I enjoy the pleasure of being a teacher of this community for two generations already. This means that in the last four years now, I have had students whose parents were my students twenty-two years ago. Most of the parents in the community knows that the excellent results are due not only to effort and rigorous work, but also to love and respect for every student. I hope to have the opportunity for a better school year each time a serve as an educator of this community for years to come. Thanks to all!

    Mi nombre es Carlos Barrera. He sido maestro en la escuela Elrod por veintidós años. He enseñado matemáticas y ciencias en tercero y cuarto grado con excelentes resultados cada año. Creo que cada estudiante es único y que tiene el derecho a su libre desarrollo. Antes de ser maestro, trabajé como parte de un equipo científico en mi país de origen, Colombia. Esta experiencia me ayudó a entender el valor de la educación en la vida. Mi misión como educador es ayudar a mis estudiantes a lograr ser la mejor persona que ellos puedan ser y a usar el conocimiento académico para alcanzar ese objetivo. Disfruto del placer de ser maestro de esta comunidad por ya dos generaciones. Esto significa que en los últimos cuatro años, he tenido estudiantes cuyos padres fueron mis estudiantes veintidós años atrás. La mayoría de los padres en la comunidad saben que los excelentes resultados se deben no solo al esfuerzo y trabajo riguroso, pero también al cariño y respeto para cada estudiante. Espero tener la oportunidad de un mejor año escolar cada vez y servir como educador en esta comunidad por varios años más. Gracias a todos!
