    At Texas Connections Academy at Houston we take great care and pride in serving our families with high quality and rigorous curriculum to ensure they are prepared to enter the world with the skills needed to succeed. We know the importance of family in our students' lives and the impact it makes. This resource is dedicated to our military connected families as they join the TCAH family. Our goal is to honor the distinguished service of these men and women and their families by helping their children receive the best possible education at our school.

     

    Purple Star Designation 

    The Texas Education Agency (TEA) began designating schools as Purple Star at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Texas Connections Academy at Houston is currently a Purple Star Campus. Learn more about how schools qualify for the Purple Star Designation from TEA

    Our Military Support 

    The role of the TCAH Military Support Team is to provide students and families the support and resources needed to overcome the challenges associated with transfers, deployments, and other situations that may arise for military families. The Military Support Team identifies military connected families and works with school staff to connect their students to resources, support, and consideration they deserve. 

     

    Military Support Team is prepared to assist:

    • When your family transfers to a Texas base

    • If your family needs guidance when transitioning to an online environment

    • Integrate the Military child into the virtual campus.

    • When you need information about local graduation requirements

    • If students need extra support during a family member’s deployment

    • As you plan a transfer to an out-of-state base

    • With other family needs related to military service

    • Exercises emotional stability, patience, tact and good judgment in all situations. 

    • Interact with students on campus.

    • Models good oral language. 

    • Serves as a District advocate to the military community.

    • Advocates and provides program information and support to military families.

    • Interacts with Military parents.

    National Military Family Association—Explanation of the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, which defines rights of military families when enrolling in new schools.

    Military Child Education Coalition—Webinars, trainings, and consultations for families transitioning to new schools, specifically families who have students with special needs.

    Tutor.com for U.S. Military Families—Free tutoring services for students of active military families.

    Military Kids Connect—Opportunity for military students to connect online and play games or do activities related to military life.
