Gifted and Talented
-
The Vanguard Program at Emerson is designed to meet the needs of neighborhood gifted and talented students.
The program is designed for students who excel in general intellectual ability in combination with creative/productive thinking and/or leadership ability. The curriculum is accelerated and enhanced in depth and complexity. Instruction is delivered through specially trained teachers.
Students are universally evaluated in Kindergarten and Fifth grade through achievement and ability testing. COGAT testing will occur October 30- November 10, 2019. Iowa/Logramos testing will occur November 1-December 1, 2019
If your child is NOT already identified as GT, and is in 1st-4th grade, you may request that he/she is tested. If you are interested, please fill out the Neighorhood Application and turn in to Lizbeth Jara, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, ljaraore@houstonisd.org
