Hello, my name is Mrs. Jones, and I am extremely excited to be the 3 rd -5 th grade counselor at Benavidez Elementary School! I am a proud product of the Houston Independent School District! My post-secondary studies include receiving my Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Houston-Downtown, as well as earning my Master of Education in Counseling from the University of St. Thomas. I've been in education for over 15 years. I taught Kindergarten through 4th grade, was a Reading/English Language Arts Specialist for two years, then served as the counselor at Bell Elementary for two years before moving to Benavidez to be the counselor.

I enjoy to exercising, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends. I've been married for over 20 years to my wonderful husband and we're the proud parents of my one and only son D.J. who proudly served in the United States Navy.

My role as the School Counselor is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive developmental guidance program as outlined in the Texas Comprehensive, Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) models, to develop each student’s academic, career, personal and social abilities. The four major program components are Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning, Responsive Services and System Support. In addition, through the usage of social and emotional learning practices students will develop skills and strategies that will mold them into being lifelong, productive citizens. I look forward to meeting and soaring with my Eagle family!
