• Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS)

    Eighteen Houston ISD middle schools have been accepted into the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools, an education initiative of the Verizon Foundation. After a rigorous competitive process, Houston ISD was identified by the Verizon Foundation’s non-profit partner, Digital Promise, as meeting all criteria for participation in Cohort 9. Each VILS partner school will receive an in-kind award of Chromebooks for all students, teachers, and administrators, professional development, and digital instructional resources. Each Chromebook will be equipped with a data plan that provides “always-available” access outside of the classroom. Funds will be provided for a full-time Campus Instructional Technologist dedicated to providing teachers with the pedagogical support to effectively leverage technology in the classroom. The VILS program is for two years, with the possibility of a two-year extension in the second year.

    Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS)

    Dieciocho escuelas intermedias de Houston ISD han sido aceptadas en Verizon Innovative Learning Schools, una iniciativa educativa de la Fundación Verizon. Después de un riguroso proceso competitivo, el socio sin fines de lucro de la Fundación Verizon, Digital Promise, identificó a Houston ISD por cumplir con todos los criterios para participar en la Cohorte 9. Cada escuela asociada de VILS recibirá un premio en especie de Chromebooks para todos los estudiantes, maestros y administradores, desarrollo profesional y recursos didácticos digitales. Cada Chromebook estará equipado con un plan de datos que proporciona acceso "siempre disponible" fuera del aula. Se proporcionarán fondos para un tecnólogo educativo del campus de tiempo completo dedicado a brindar a los maestros el apoyo pedagógico para aprovechar de manera efectiva la tecnología en el aula.
