Tammie R.J. Moran has been selected as the new principal of Franklin Elementary School. Moran began her career in 1996 with HISD and has served as a science teacher, department chair, new teacher induction coach, registrar, and most recently an associate principal. Her years in education have consistently increased academic performance at the schools where she served. Most recently, Moran served as an assistant principal at Furr High School. Moran holds a bachelor’s in Biology from Texas Southern University and a master’s in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University. Read more...
It is with great pride and excitement that I join Franklin Elementary School as your Principal. I am overjoyed to bring my experience as an educational leader to your son/daughters’ school and to work with you every step of the way as a partner to ensure your child’s success. I believe that it is my responsibility to maintain and to continue to build a supportive and collaborative spirit at our school. Together as a school community, we will build on the traditions of the past and meet the challenges of the future in innovative and exciting ways. We will do everything in our power to make sure your child feels respected, safe, happy and successful here at Franklin Elementary. With all of us working together – parents, teachers, staff and students- the coming year will result in the realization of your hopes and dreams for your children’s learning. Dear Franklin Elementary School Parents and Community Members:
This message is being sent on behalf of Mrs. Tammie Moran, Principal of Franklin ES. Taking into consideration that safety is our number one priority, it is important to share with you some adjustments related to procedures for arrival and dismissal of students. The meeting will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Franklin ES at 3:00 pm.

Effective Immediately: Only (3) Gates will be used for arrival and dismissal. One gate on Avenue H, One gate on Canal, and One gate on Maltby. See image below. The main entrance gate will not be accessible for student drop-off or student pick-up during arrival and dismissal times.
Avenue H will be designated for student drop-off and pick-up ONLY. Parents will obey the traffic signs, cones and flow of traffic. Parents will head East on Avenue H to drop off students. Please do not drop your students off heading West as there are no crossing guards to safely cross your child to safety. Once students are dropped off, parents will exit on 72nd Street. This is the only entrance for students to use for car rider drop-off and pick-up. Parents will not be able to park and walk-up to pick up their students.
