(Includes HISD resident employees who wish to enroll their child in a school close to their work location.)Homeless
HISD attempts to keep a homeless student enrolled in their “school of origin,” but a transfer may be granted if their parent or legal guardian requests for them to attend a different school.Public Education Grant (PEG)
A student outside of HISD may be approved for a PEG if:- They’re enrolled in a school that has been low performing during the past 3 academic years, or
- They’re enrolled in a school in which less than 50% of students passed STAAR exams during 2 of the previous 3 years.
PEG transfers will only be processed if there is an agreement between HISD and the school district in which the student is enrolled.
