Principal's Message

  • Dr. Brooks

    Welcome!

I am Dr. Samantha Brooks, and it is my honor to serve as the newly appointed principal of North Houston Early College High School. NHECHS has maintained a rich legacy, ensuring that first generation college-goers are all afforded an excellent educational opportunity, challenged in rigorous, advanced academic coursework, and supported by caring and highly effective teachers, administrators and staff so that students thrive at Houston Community College and beyond.

In these times of uncertainty, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NHECHS remains committed to our legacy of excellence, and we look forward to another successful school year. Our goal is that all students will walk across two stages at the end of four years, one with a high school diploma, and the other, with an associate degree from Houston Community College, prepared to be the game changers of the future. We also intend for every senior to be accepted to a four-year university and be awarded the needed funds to eliminate any financial barriers to success. This level of academic accomplishment requires that we, the parents, students, school, and community work together as fully invested partners. NHECHS scholars will indeed achieve great milestones, with our help.

Parents, we thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating and inspiring your child. Our expectations are high and so are the supports we provide our scholars. Alongside the rigorous instruction, we will continue to bring balance to our students’ high school experience through advocacy, clubs, community engagement, social-emotional supports, extracurricular activities, and school-wide celebrations.

As a first-generation college success story, I understand the challenges many of our students experience as they begin to navigate the college system, work with a fast-paced curriculum, and learn the unspoken rules of college that professors expect them to already know. We at NHECHS will equip our students so that they know themselves, their content, and what it takes to be a successful college graduate.

Thank you to every member of the NHECHS community who will uphold the early college vision, meet students where they are, and take them to new heights.

    Sincerely,

    Samantha Brooks, Ed.D.
