Attendance Information 

Students who are engaged in daily learning as defined below will be considered “present” and will not be marked absent.

• Participation in the HISD Learning Management System (LMS) and completion of independent reading and work assignments.
• Interaction with the teacher via Microsoft Teams as part of live or small group instruction.
• Submission of assignment(s) via the HISD Learning Management System (LMS).
• When unable to submit assignments, students should communicate with their teacher to see if they are allowed to submit assignments via emails, photos, TEAMS conferences, or other forms of documentation.

Students who do not meet the attendance and academic course requirements in each class period may be marked absent.

• Elementary schools - 2:30 p.m.
• Middle & K-8 schools – 3:30 p.m.
• High schools – 3:30 p.m.

Absences can be resolved if the student engages in daily learning assigned by their teachers by 11:59 p.m. that same day. Parents and students will receive absence notifications via School Messenger after 6:00 p.m. each day and will be reminded of the opportunity to resolve that day’s absence if the student engages in learning before 11:59 p.m. of the same day. Any absences recorded, but resolved by the student before 11:59 p.m. on the same day, will be reconciled based on login records of the HUB or with teacher verification.

If a student is engaged in remote learning and completes the entire weeks’ worth of learning activities on Monday and does not log in for the remainder of the week, he/she will be marked “present” on Monday only and counted “absent” for Tuesday-Friday.  

State law TEC §25.092 and Houston ISD Policy still require students to attend at least 90% of their classes to receive credit and be promoted. Remote attendance will count in the same manner as on-campus (face-to-face) attendance in satisfying this requirement.

Los estudiantes que participan en el aprendizaje diario como se define a continuación se considerarán "presentes" y no se marcarán ausentes.

• Participación en el HUB, el Sistema de Gestión de Aprendizaje (LMS) de HISD y realización de lecturas independientes y asignaciones de trabajo.
• Interacción con el maestro a través de Microsoft Teams como parte de la instrucción en vivo o en grupos pequeños.
• Envío de asignación (es) a través del HUB.
• Cuando no pueden enviar a través del HUB, los estudiantes pueden enviar tareas por correo electrónico, fotos, conferencias telefónicas u otras formas de documentación.

Los estudiantes que no hayan cumplido al menos uno de los tres requisitos anteriores en los siguientes tiempos se marcarán ausentes:

• Escuelas primarias - 2:30 p.m.
• Escuelas intermedias y K-8 - 3:30 p.m.
• Escuelas secundarias - 3:30 p.m.

Las ausencias se pueden resolver si el estudiante participa en el aprendizaje diario asignado por sus maestros antes de las 11:59 p.m. ese mismo día. Los padres y los estudiantes recibirán notificaciones de ausencia a través de School Messenger después de las 6:00 p.m. cada día y se le recordará la oportunidad de resolver la ausencia de ese día si el estudiante participa en el aprendizaje antes de las 11:59 p.m. del mismo día. Cualquier ausencia registrada, pero resuelta por el estudiante antes de las 11:59 p.m. el mismo día, se conciliará según los registros de inicio de sesión del HUB o con la verificación del maestro.

Si un estudiante participa en el aprendizaje remoto y completa las actividades de aprendizaje de toda la semana el lunes y no inicia sesión durante el resto de la semana, se le marcará como "presente" solo el lunes y se contará como "ausente" durante Martes viernes.

La ley estatal TEC §25.092 y la Política del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Houston todavía requieren que los estudiantes asistan al menos al 90% de sus clases para recibir crédito y ser promovidos. La asistencia remota contará de la misma manera que la asistencia en el campus (cara a cara) para satisfacer este requisito.
