The Lyons Chess Club is sponsored by Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Acosta. We meet Mondays from 3:15 to 4:30. The Lyons Chess Club is a club where higher learning, problem solving, prediction and sequencing, strategy, and wit are all taught and hopefully instilled for a lifetime. We use technology such tablets to solve puzzles and real chess boards to play games and participate in tournaments.  

We practice throughout the year, and have an in-school tournament in April and May.

We compete in UIL (University Interscholastic League) chess puzzle solving competitions twice a year.

We also compete against other schools in tournaments. Lyons won a tournament in 2023!
