About Title I
-
Benavidez Elementary is a schoolwide Title I, Part A campus. Title I, Part A, is a federally funded program that provides resources and opportunities to improve the academic achievement of economically disadvantaged students. The purpose of Title I, part A is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. A school is eligible to receive Title I, Part A funds when the percentage of low-income children residing within a school's attendance area is equal to or greater than the average district-wide percentage.

Title I Coordinator
Title I, Part A is a formula grant program that provides financial assistance to school districts and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. Title I is the largest program supporting elementary and secondary education in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The Title I, Part A program is intended to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards, regardless of economic status. Title I is the government’s attempt to provide all children with the opportunity to receive a fair, equitable and high-quality education, and to close the achievement gap.
