Dr. Samantha Brooks has been selected as the new principal of North Houston Early College High School. Brooks, who began her career as a Spanish and English teacher in Memphis, Tennessee, has been a part of Team HISD for 20 years and served at Jack Yates, Waltrip, Empowerment College Prep, and South Early College High School, where she has held a variety of leadership roles to impact student achievement. Brooks has taught and supported teachers in English, Spanish, math support classes, AVID and TSI Prep-Reading. In early 2020, Brooks was the proud recipient of HISD’s Tier 2 Excellence in Leadership Award and served as a TABSE workshop co-presenter, sharing early college best practices. With her leadership support, South ECHS excelled in STAAR, TELPAS, community service involvement and associate degree completion. Brooks earned her bachelor’s and first master’s from the University of Memphis and her M.Ed. and Doctor of Education degree from the University of Houston.
