Tannisha Gentry, Principal
Tannisha Gentry has been selected as the new principal of Ross Shaw Aviation and Early College High School. Gentry began her career as a teacher in Houston ISD at Codwell Elementary where she taught 5th grade. She transitioned to Hartman Middle School where she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade math and continued her career in the district as a Teacher Development Specialist, an assistant principal at Attucks Middle School, principal of Forest Brook Middle School, and as a director in the College Readiness Department. As principal at Forest Brook, she led the school out of Improvement Required (IR) status by meeting TEA standards and received recognition as Principal of the Year in the North.
The campus vision is that Sterling exists as a comprehensive early college and through collaboration, students and families will develop self-efficacy, become productive citizens in our global society, and build marketable skills that propel them into the workforce and/or college. Furthermore, it is the mission at Sterling that every student will be prepared with the skills and the knowledge needed to be college and career ready and that each student will have the belief and courage to be successful.
