Dear Ed White community,
I am Ting-Hsuan Liu, and you can call me Ting or Ms. Liu. It is truly an honor to serve as the Assistant Principal in your community.
Allow me to provide you with some insights into my educational background. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Language and Foreign Literature in Taiwan. During that time, I worked as a Research Assistant at the university, focusing on Digital Interactive Educational Games. It was during this period that I discovered my deep passion for teaching, as I had the privilege to engage with children while conducting my research. This realization led me to shift my career path towards education.
Upon my arrival in Houston in 2016, I wasted no time in pursuing further education and professional development. In the same year, I completed my Alternative Certification Program (ACP) and obtained certifications in various areas, including:
- K-12 ESL (English as a Second Language)
- K-12 Bilingual Chinese
- K-12 LOTE Chinese (Languages Other Than English)
- K-6 Core Subjects (English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies)
- 4-8 Core Subjects (English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies)
My journey in education began as a 1st-grade teacher during my student teaching phase. However, my potential as an upper-grade teacher was recognized by my principal, which led me to teach 4th and 5th graders for a rewarding four-year period. Subsequently, I expressed my interest in transitioning to middle school education, having previously worked in a K-8 campus, and I found myself teaching 7th and 8th graders.
In 2020, I furthered my educational qualifications by earning a Master of Arts degree in Learning, Design, and Technology, with a focus on instructional design and educational technology, from the University of Houston, Main Campus. Additionally, I completed my principal certification program at Lamar University, becoming certified in K-12 Principal as an Instructional Leader.
My journey into education has been driven by an unwavering passion for working with children. I consistently maintain high expectations for the students I serve, and I am committed to collaborating with their families to provide seamless and relentless support for their learning. I look forward to working together with you and your community to foster a nurturing and thriving educational environment for all our students.
Sincerely,
Ting-Hsuan Liu
Assistant Principal
