• Hi!!! My Name is Richard Cruz and I am the primary (prek-1st) general music and 2nd-5th grade Choir, Orff Ensemble and Intermediate Music director/teacher! Music is my life! I started playing piano at the age of 5 and graduated from HISD's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts under the direction of Robert "Doc" Morgan. I earned a B.A. and M.A. in Jazz Piano Performance from The New School in NYC and The Aaron Copland School of Music Queens College, City University of New York respectively. I am a certified (music ec-12) music and generalist (ec-4) teacher and started teaching music in 2006 for HISD. I am also a professional freelance pianist always involved in various projects in the arts locally and nationally. I am very passionate about music and its importance to the overall cognitive development of children.
