Chuck Vanderchuck's something something explosion
Chuck Vanderchuck's "Something Something" Explosion is designed to help children ages 6 to 9 understand music and music composition by teaching basic musical concepts and performance skills through the study of popular song styles from around the world. In each webisode, children are introduced to a new musical style and the culture from which that style was born. They then learn to perform basic rhythmic and melodic patterns in that style through the use of fun, interactive games. Children will learn about the geography and culture that birthed these musical styles. They will have an understanding of the basic rhythmic and melodic components that are characteristic of each style. Children will be able to recognize and perform the fundamental patterns (melodic and rhythmic) of each style, and they will gain a basic comprehension of song composition/structure. The main goals of this project are to teach children: instruments and their sounds, song structure, lyric writing, musical styles, and ear training.Parents please click and or copy and paste to your internet browser the link. -
The Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra
Benjamin Britten's "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" is one of the staples for introducing the instruments and instrument families of the orchestra to students. Carnegie Hall's "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" takes your students on an online safari to find all of the instruments in the orchestra in the wild. It is up to you, Violet, and her Uncle Ollie to find them, collect them, and guide them to the orchestra stage.Through the game you follow the form of the actual music. You start by listening to the full orchestra play the theme, followed by the four families playing the theme, followed by the individual instrument variations, and ending with the fugue.
This online adventure can take a long time to complete, so I am breaking it up into five parts:1. The introduction and four families2. The woodwind family3. The strings family4. The brass family5. The percussion family and finaleParents please click and or copy and paste to your internet browser the link. -
