  • IB Program

Wharton Dual Language Academy is an IB World School for the Primary Years Program (PYP). We received our authorization from the International Baccalaureate Organization in June, 2014. The Primary Years Program (PYP) is a curriculum framework for young learners aged 3–12 designed by the International Baccalaureate (IB). Founded on a philosophy that recognizes a child’s natural curiosity, creativity and ability to reflect, the PYP generates a stimulating, challenging learning environment to nurture those assets and foster a lifelong love of learning in every child. The PYP, like all IB programs, is transdisciplinary, meaning students learn across subject areas while investigating big ideas.
  •        ISA
The Wharton Elementary Dual Language philosophy promotes both Spanish and English as languages of equal value. We feel that by placing importance on both languages we are not only preparing our students for the multi-lingual, multicultural world we are living in, but they are also learning the importance and value in respecting other cultures in our increasingly global society.

  • 2019-2020 Magnet Prekindergarten Families

After considering the specific instructional needs of our programs and provided that additional space is available for incoming students in Kindergarten and grades above at each HISD Magnet Prekindergarten campus, the decision has been made to allow Magnet Prekindergarten students to rollover into the Magnet Kindergarten program at their enrolled Magnet program for the 2020-2021 school year. In short, the families described here do not need to reapply for a seat at their enrolled campus. This process is currently set to continue for future Magnet Prekindergarten students as well. Specifically, the schools are:

    • Arabic Immersion

    • Blackshear Montessori

    • Garden Oaks Montessori

    • Helms Dual Language

    • Mandarin Immersion

    • Wilson Montessori
