• Middle School Academics

    Our middle school is a Spanish dual language program, where we offer a rigorous college preparatory program while continuing to develop high-level academic Spanish for all students. Each year, our students receive academic core instruction in Spanish and English. 

     

    Courses in Spanish 

    • 6th Grade: Spanish Reading Language Arts and World Cultures
    • 7th Grade: Spanish LOTE I and Texas History
    • 8th Grade: Spanish LOTE II and AP Spanish 

     

    High School Credit Courses 

     

    By the end of 8th grade, students complete the foreign language requirement for the HISD Recommended High School Diploma, are eligible to receive college credit through the Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish exam and have the opportunity to earn four high school credits as noted below:

    • Math
      • Algebra I
    • Foreign Language
      • 1 year in 6th grade - Spanish Reading Language Arts
      • 1 year in 7th grade - Spanish LOTE I (Languages Other than English)
      • 1 year in 8th grade - Spanish LOTE II (Languages Other than English) and AP Spanish
