Last year, Herod Elementary participated in the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week. This event was so successful throughout the school district, that HISD teamed up with Code.org to bring computer science education to all HISD campuses over the next three years.
Herod Elementary is ready to integrate coding and computer science principles in kindergarten through fifth grade and will be participating in the Code.org K-5 program. Our goal is to use coding to emphasize the underlying principles of logic, creative thinking and expression in all academic areas. Our students will also become better thinkers and learners.
We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works.
