6th Grade - Assistant Principal
Greetings! My name is Gloria Zavala, and I am honored and proud to serve the Hartman Middle School community as an assistant principal. I am a native Houstonian leading with the philosophy that if given ample opportunities, every child can reach their full potential and become productive citizens in our ever-changing society. It is my obligation to promote each child's confidence and academic abilities to ensure they are equipped with not only the fundamental skills of learning, but also the drive to persevere and the strength to overcome any adversity they may face. I started my teaching career and joined Team HISD in 2012 as a middle school science teacher at Pershing Middle School. I served as a cluster leader for two years and science department chair for three. In 2018, I decided to support the work of coaching and developing teachers at a higher level and moved into school administration where I currently lead as an assistant principal at Hartman Middle School. As a fearless leader I bring integrity, commitment, and empowerment to the role and practice it daily. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and attended the University of St. Thomas where I received my Master of Education in Educational Leadership.
