  • Houreal men ston Real Men Read    

    Houston Real Men Read is a mentoring program in which gentlemen business and community members from across the greater Houston area volunteer one hour of their time once a month to read to students in second, fifth and seventh grade in HISD schools. The program reinforces three fundamental principles: reading is fun, the community cares and a commitment to education can ensure success.

  • Classroom: Our teachers are always in need of some extra help in the classroom. Whether it is working with a small group, reading to the students, making copies, or laminating, we can use your help. Volunteers would be working with all teachers where help is needed, and not solely with your child’s teacher.

    En el salón de clases: Nuestras maestras siempre necesitan de ayuda extra en el salón de clase. Los padres voluntarios podrán trabajar con la maestra/o que necesite ayuda y no solamente con la maestra de su hijo/a, ayudando con un grupo de estudiantes, haciendo copias o laminando.

  • Volunteer Day – Every Tuesday we hold a volunteer day where parents help the teachers by  preparing the students Tuesday folders to go home, cutting, laminating, organizing and creating materials. This is an opportunity for you to meet with other parents, form friendships, and help our fabulous Durham teachers!

    Oportunidades para Voluntarios: Una o dos veces al mes ofreceremos la oportunidad para que los padres voluntarios vengan a ayudar a los maestros a recortar, laminar, organizar y preparar materiales. Esta es un buena oportunidad para que conozca otros padres de familia, encuentre nuevas amistades y sobre todo ayude a nuestras maestras de Durham. 
  • Outdoor Classroom – Our students keep up our amazing garden with the help of our PTA and community members.  If you enjoy working outside, we welcome you to help keep the weeds out and keep Durham looking beautiful.  For more information about the projects, visit Durham PTA .
