FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What time does school start? – School starts at 8:00 am (not at 8:30 am like the larger schools). Students are expected to be in their class by 8:00 am daily, when instruction begins. Repeatedly tardy students will be given detention and/or put on a growth plan. (This does not apply to students that are late due to HISD transportation.)

What kind of backpack can we use? – You may use any backpack as long as it is appropriate for the school setting. We do not have lockers, so please ensure they are not too large.
Do we have free dress?
No, we have a dress code that all students must follow. Please click the link below to learn more. The dress code will be enforced daily and reviewed with students on the first day of school. If you fail to follow the dress code, you will not be provided with clothes to wear and will serve after-school detention.
HSLJ PTO and staff will sell t-shirts, polos, and sweaters on July 30th and 31st, from 8-10 a.m. and 2-3 p.m.
What supplies should we buy? Is there a supply list? – High school does not have a supply list for all students. You will learn what you need from your teacher on the first day of school. Please bring at least one notebook and pen for the first day of school.
When do we get our schedules?
All students can see their schedules in PowerSchool before school starts. However, 9th graders will receive a copy of their schedules during Eagle Camp.
Once I get my schedule, will I be able to change my classes? – Students can request a schedule change beginning on the 3rd day of school, not any sooner. Please note that not all requests will be approved since most classes have limited space. We do our absolute best to build your schedule based on the classes available and ensure that you are taking what you need to graduate. More information will be shared once school starts.
When do I get my laptop? – Laptop pickup will be available during our Eagle Camp (Freshman Orientation) on July 30th (For last name being with A-M) or 31st(For N-Z).
When do I find out what bus route I have? – HISD transportation will either call or mail you that information in the next few weeks. Reminder that not getting on the bus or bus issues is not an excuse for missing school - it will be considered an unexcused absence. You should have other transportation methods if bus issues arise.
