  • HUB Trainings for Parents / Entrenamiento de HUB para Padres.

    The Academic Instructional Technology team has organized parent workshops to help parents understand how to access the HUB and support their student.  The workshops will take place in a virtual live session with opportunities for question and answers.  The “Getting to Know the HUB for Parents” training can be accessed through HISD@Home. Below you will find the links to the trainings. We will also have a campus HUB training for parents on Sept 30 at 5PM. Please share this information with your parents. It is important that our students use the HUB. Our HUB usage data is low.

    El equipo de Tecnología Académica de Instrucción ha organizado talleres para padres para ayudar a los padres a comprender cómo acceder al HUB y apoyar a sus estudiantes. Los talleres se llevarán a cabo en una sesión virtual en vivo con oportunidades para preguntas y respuestas. Se puede acceder a la capacitación “Conociendo el HUB para padres” a través de HISD @ Home. A continuación encontrará los enlaces a los entrenamientos. También tendremos una capacitación HUB en el campus para padres el 30 de septiembre a las 5:00 p.m. Comparte esta información con tus padres. Es importante que nuestros estudiantes usen el HUB. Nuestros datos de uso de HUB son bajos.

    September 8, 2020: First day of school (all students virtual)

    October 19, 2020: Face-to-face instruction begins*

    September 8, 2020 - January 29, 2021: First semester of virtual learning for students/parents who choose online instruction.

     *Parents will have the option to choose online instruction for the fall semester (through January 29) or entire school year (through June 11). *

  • Beatrice Akala

    Beatrice Akala, Principal

    Sutton Elementary School Principal, Beatrice Akala

    Beatrice Akala has been selected as principal of Sutton Elementary School July 2019. She began her career in Education as an English teacher in Kenya before moving to the United States. In the U.S., she started her career as a prekindergarten through fourth-grade teacher in private school. For the last fourteen years, she has served at HISD in various capacities, including as an ESL teacher at Sam Houston High School, teacher development specialist, assistant principal, and dean of instruction at Wisdom High School. As a member of the instructional leadership team at Wisdom, the school earned four distinctions in ELA, math, science and social studies. She holds a bachelor’s in Education from Moi University Kenya, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Houston, a master’s in Human Resource Management from Walden University. She is also currently working on a doctorate’s in Education at North Central University.
