Purpose of the Title I, Part A Program:

The purpose of Title I, Part A is to ensure that all children, particularly low-achieving children in the highest-poverty schools, have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency in challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

Mitchell Elementary has a school-wide program, where ALL students are Title I students and are eligible for services through Title I. Mitchell Elementary qualifies as a Title I school based on the percentage of students with free/reduced lunch.The intent of Title I is to use funds to supplement, not supplant; to provide extra services, instructional materials, etc., including: funding for additional staff and support for teachers/staff to provide interventions to those students who need additional help in passing the STAAR.
