Title I
-
Title I is a federally-funded program. The purpose is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments.
Mitchell Elementary has a school-wide program, where ALL students are Title I students and are eligible for services through Title I. Mitchell Elementary qualifies as a Title I school based on the percentage of students with free/reduced lunch.
The intent of Title I is to use funds to supplement, not supplant; to provide extra services, instructional materials, etc., including:
- Funding for additional staff
- Support for teachers/staff to provide interventions to those students who need additional help in passing the STAAR
- Parental Involvement is another big part of Title I
