Welcome to Benavidez!
My career in education began 15 years ago, as I have served as a Math Teacher, Data and Assessment Specialist, District Content Curriculum Specialist in Elementary Math for Grades PreK-5th, Teacher Specialist in Math PreK-5th, and Dean of Instruction, where I have a proven track record of growing campuses in the area of Mathematics and led the areas of vertical alignment, curriculum design, instructional coaching, school improvement, state accountability growth measures, data and assessment, and program evaluation.
I am a proud alumnus of McNeese State University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Management and was a member of the Track and Field Team. I also hold a Master of Arts in Education, Specializing in Mathematics Instruction, from Ashford University. I am also a member of the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) and Texas Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE), where I was the inaugural recipient of the TABSE Aim to Inspire Superintendent Scholarship Award in 2022, in which aided me in the completion of the Region IV Leadership and Superintendent Certification program in 2022. I also earned the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Travel Fellowship in 2023.
My mission as an educational leader is to build the capacity of the academic community in which I serve to promote the best outcomes for student achievement. I have a willingness to share my knowledge, expertise, and experiences to learn and grow with my colleagues in the field of education. My mission is Exposure, Opportunity, & Growth!
I am extremely excited to join the team as Assistant Principal and be of support to the awesome teachers, students, staff, and community of Benavidez Elementary!!!
