    Dr. John Mastillo

Greeting Student, Parents, Community Members, and Staff:

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and learn more about who I am and my professional background.

I am entering my 30th official year in education and my 34th unofficial year. I worked as a substitute teacher and head wrestling coach in Pennsylvania for four years before beginning a full-time teaching position in Texas in 1994.

I grew up in Somerset County, Pennsylvania (about 15 miles north of the 911 Flight 93 crash location) and moved to Texas in 1994. Since that time, I have served as teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Transportation Supervisor in Texas. I moved back to PA from 2010 through 2021 to serve as Superintendent of Schools but found myself back in the Houston area in August 2021.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I attended Stephen F. Austin State University for my Master of Education in Educational Leadership in 2000 and my Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership in 2011. I am certified in Texas in the areas of Elementary Education, EC – 12 Principal, and EC – 12 Superintendent.

As an instructional leader, it is important for me to forge effective working relationships with all the stakeholders to expose the campus to new levels of not only academic achievement and instructional practices, but also increasing opportunities for our students, staff, and community to learn, grow and flourish…becoming the best they can be in the position they serve or represent.
