• Student Discipline
Parents are responsible for ensuring that their children adhere to the rules and conventions of proper behavior while at school. HISD and Bastian Elementary have an official Zero Tolerance policy for student behavior. Students are expected to behave in an acceptable manner and to follow the rules and regulations established by the school and by the classroom. The HISD Code of Student Conduct will be strictly enforced. Students who are disruptive to the educational process will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with that code of conduct.
Fighting will not be tolerated and students who engage in such activity will be automatically suspended.
Expect homework for the school at least twice weekly if not daily. We are asking that you go over all homework with your child, but allow them to do the work on their own. If you have any questions about a homework assignment, please contact your child’s teacher.
    Telephone / Cell Phones
Telephones are for EMERGENCY USE ONLY. Please make your child aware of your daily plans for after-school pick up and activities before arriving to school each morning. If an emergency arises, the teacher will allow the student to use the telephone. Students are not permitted to use the telephone in the Teacher’s Lounge. Cell phone use is not permitted during school hours. Cell phones will be confiscated from students if used and only returned to the parent at the cost of $25. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen phones or other personal property.
