STEAM Magnet
STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Agriculture, and MathThe Magnet program at Attucks is structured as a "school-wide" magnet program that offers rigorous instruction in Mathematics and Science for all students. This means that ALL students zoned to Attucks are magnet students and do not need to apply. Students do not need to be GT; students who not GT have the option to test for the Gifted and Talented label. Students not zoned to Attucks must apply through www.houstonisd.org/schoolchoiceAll students must sign an Entrance agreement that ensures all parties are responsible for requiring the scholar to maintain a 75 or higher average in all courses. Our curriculum pathways offer exploratory, discovery, and enrichment studies in all core subject areas. Our goal is to increase student achievement and close academic gaps through an interactive approach that connects learning to real-world application. Students who score "Meets" or "Masters" on STAAR Math have an additional opportunity to take advantage of advanced academic courses where they have access to earning high school credit in Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Journalism, Principles of Information Technology, and/or Principles of Applied Technology. The use of multimedia technology is incorporated throughout all coursework. Modern technology is used to enhance the curriculum in both the classroom and state-of-the-art computer lab facilities. Additionally, all core staff members are required to provide instruction that ensures the BEST delivery of instruction and learning facilitation for Attucks students.6th Grade Academic Pathway-
