Dr. Mishlan has been selected as the new Principal of West Briar Middle School. Dr. Mishlan has served HISD as the Dean of Instruction at Westside HS and has served Pearland ISD as a Classroom Teacher (5-6), School Counselor (PK-8), and Assistant Principal (5-8). Her recognitions include Assistant Principal of the Year Award (2020) and the Educators in Excellence Award (2021). As part of Westside’s leadership team, she led Westside HS through COVID-19 learning interruptions by consistently planning a rigorous instructional schedule, holding teachers to high professional development standards, and providing targeted interventions to STAAR EOC content areas. Dr. Mishlan is a native Houstonian but graduated from the University of South Florida with her bachelor’s in Elementary Education and master’s in Counselor Education. Most recently, she earned her doctorate in Ethical Leadership from the University of St. Thomas.
