In an effort to keep you informed about your child’s classroom activities during the first twelve weeks of school, the following is a list of concepts that will be introduced.- The front, back, top and bottom of a book, how to hold the book and turn the pages.
- Follow oral directions.
- Use the words in, on, under, over, beside, inside, behind, above and below appropriately.
- Name letters of the alphabet.
- Answer questions about a story.
- Retell a story.
- Identify the characters in a story.
- Take turns when speaking.
- Tell what might happen next when listening to a book.
- Count by ones to 10.
- Recognize and describe circles and squares.
- Match objects that are alike.
- Use five senses to learn about objects.
- Observe and discuss changes in the weather.
- Sort objects into groups by color, size, shape etc.
- Understand the concept of today and tomorrow.
- Follow classroom rules.
- Describe family characteristics.
- Describe community environment such as buildings, streets, landscape.
