Important Athletic and UIL information

Due to the rising number of COVID 19 cases in the Harris County area, HISD has suspended Middle School sports until rates come down. HISD plans to re-evaluate Athletics on Jan 22nd , at that time if rates are lower Athletics will return.

    Important things to know:

-Coaches are to still collect paperwork, turn in Master sheets to the Trainer/Athletics, and all required paperwork to the Athletics office. The idea is when they allow us to go back, we can pick up and start practicing ASAP.

-Parents that paid the $35 for HISD insurance will two options. We can hold the money as they re-evaluate and apply it when sports start back or refund payment back.

-Modified schedules based on current teams will be sent out soon.

-No BEFORE or AFTER school practices but can hold team meetings on "Teams" to keep all kids engaged and working out.

-When we return all Coaches and Athletes will have on a mask on during practice, sidelines, locker rooms. Only time allowed to be removed is when actively participating. Social Distancing needs to happen whenever possible.

-UIL grading standard still in effect must be passing to participate.

Frank Black Middle School has the most comprehensive athletics program of any middle school in HISD.
FBMS offers a twelve sports, multiple iClubs focused on athletics and has additional sports options under development.  With excellent coaching and a rich tradition of fielding competitive teams, FBMS students have a wide range of sports options that help develop teamwork, discipline, focus, athleticism and good health habits, while experiencing the fun and reward of competition.
The University Scholastic League (UIL) governs public school athletics in Texas and restricts participation to 7th and 8th graders for UIL sports.  At FBMS 6th graders are eligible to participate in lacrosse, softball or baseball.
    Below are the Physical Forms.

Student Athletes will be completing all paperwork online this year using Register my Athlete. Parents will create a profile, sign UIL paperwork, upload Physical, Insurance and Medical Documents (if applicable). Once cleared the Athlete turns in the original physical and a copy of Insurance card to start practicing.
