    Independent Study Mentorship - Seniors work off-campus every Friday at an internship under the guidance of their mentor, a professional in the student's field of study, students create there exit level project which is a unique innovative product of professional quality at a collegiate level.   Syllabus
    BIMS-I Dual Credit - Students apply technical skills to address business applications of emerging technologies, create word-processing documents, develop a spreadsheet, formulate a database, and make an electronic presentation using appropriate software.  Syllabus
    Global Business - Students gain knowledge, skills, and sensitivities that help them manage business operations more proactively in the turbulent  international environment. Syllabus   

    About me:     Jo Ann is a native Houstonian and grew up within HISD attending Alcott Elementary, Hartman Middle, Fondren Middle, and Sharpstown High School. She participated in the Coop Program at Sharpstown HS and also received an internship  through UH Central while completing her BBA in  Production and Logistics Management with a minor in Statistics. Out of college, Jo Ann worked in the oil industry for Baker Hughes and Schlumberger. As she says, "that's where everyone went to make money". Jo Ann then moved to the distribution side of business working in executive management for an internationally owned  Laboratory and Supply Distributor in the Houston area. During that time, she earned her MBA from UH Central minoring in International Finance and Economics.
     
    Jo Ann first joined the HAIS family as a volunteer when her son Benjamin attended in the  second graduating class. Jo Ann  has always  had a passion for volunteering with students, but from day one recognized the unique environment here at HAIS. "I was so moved by how the students took care of and looked out for one another. I had to become a permanent part of this school!"   Jo Ann is proud of the fact that she is the only staff member who has been both a parent and a teacher. Jo Ann also has a daughter who is a Senior and a wonderful husband of 34 years. She enjoys spending time with her family.
