• All coursework offered at HAIS is advanced coursework and falls under one of the types listed below.  There are no on-level courses offered at HAIS.

AP - Get the Most Out of AP – AP Students | College Board

Advanced Placement Courses are challenging, college level courses following a curriculum designed by College Board. In May, students take the official, AP exams for the course. AP exams are scored on a scale of 1-5. Colleges often (but not always) accept scores of 3+ on the AP exam and award students credit for those courses. Each college accepts different exams and may have different qualifying scores, so students should check with each college they are interested in attending.

    PreAP - Pre-AP Home – Pre-AP | College Board

PreAP Courses are designed to help students transition to the rigor and expectations of AP courses. They do not have standardized end of course exams and students do not receive college credit for PreAP courses.

OnRamps - Postsecondary Programming / Dual Enrollment (UT OnRamps) (houstonisd.org)

OnRamps courses are Dual Credit classes offered through UT Austin. Taught by a HAIS teacher, these courses are designed by a UT professor and the assignments and assessments are dictated by UT. Students receive both a high school AND a college level grade. If they pass the college class, students can choose to accept or reject the college credit.

Dual Credit with HAIS Teacher - Postsecondary Programming / Parent Information Center (houstonisd.org)

These HCC courses are taught to groups of exclusively HAIS students and are taught by HAIS teachers who are also HCC professors. Some of them occur on the HAIS campus, and some happen some or all of the time on the HCC campus.

Dual Credit in a HAIS Cohort

These HCC courses are taught by HCC professors on HCC's campus, but all of the students in the group are HAIS students.

    Dual Credit regular HCC

In these HCC classes taught by HCC professors on HCC's campus, HAIS students are integrated into HCC classes along with non-HAIS students. Some may be in-person, some may be online.
