Just in time before the holiday break, HISD recognizes Senior Plant Operator Werner Flores of Westbury High school as Employee of the Month for December.
“Werner is an amazing employee that is hardworking and remains dedicated to his job and the campus,” Westbury High Principal Susan Monaghan said. 
It was Werner’s selfless approach in monitoring the school’s conditions during Hurricane Harvey that got the attention of the district. From unclogging drains on top of the roof to pumping water from the building, Werner stayed behind during Hurricane Harvey to minimize the amount of floodwater that entered the school.
“I’m thankful they actually recognize people for the work they’re passionate about,” Flores said.
“Mr. Flores is the kind of employee everyone wishes they had and Westbury High is very fortunate to have him,” Monaghan said.
