Degrees and Certifications:
I am proud to be serving as the Counselor at Memorial Elementary. I attended college at The University of Texas at San Antonio and received a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. After graduation I decided to pursue my passion of working with children and became a teacher. Almost immediately I realized that along with teaching, I wanted to do more to support the social and emotional needs of our students, so I went back to school and received a masters degree from Lamar University in School Counseling. It has been a wonderful journey and I am thankful every day that I get to work in what I today call my “Dream job”. It is in that same capacity that I now recognize that I want to bring that same support to adults, and I have enrolled at Walden University pursuing a doctoral degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a specialization in Evidence-Based Coaching. I am constantly motivated to bring joy in the process of learning, whether it is for a classroom full of students or a room full of teachers. It is my belief that everyone can strengthen areas that need to be developed, both socially and emotionally, when we are enthusiastically supported by someone with an open-mind, a positive attitude, and high expectations. When I am not at work or doing schoolwork, I am traveling, reading a book or in a perfect world doing both at the same time.
