Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Sapps

My name is Mr.Sapps and I am going into my 4th year in special education and am very excited to be serving as the SLC-ALT teacher here at Memorial Elementary. I was born and raised in New York, where I attended college at The City College of New York and received a bachelor's degree in sociology.  After undergrad, I decided to pursue my passion of working with special needs children and attended graduate school at Hunter College, where I received my master's in special education. For the past two years, I've taught in a specialized district in the New York City Department of Education, specializing in K-2 students. While New York will always have a very special place in my heart, I decided it was time for a change and chose to bring my talents to Texas.  It has been a life-changing journey both being and becoming a special education teacher and I am more than thankful to work so closely with children and their families to meet their individualized social and academic needs. It is truly my belief that every student holds the ability to learn, and I can’t wait to see the magic unfold here at Memorial. When I am not wearing my “teacher hat”, I am traveling, eating delicious food, spending time with family and friends or at an amusement or water park! I look forward to meeting the rest of the Memorial family and helping every child that comes my way!
