Ms. Anita Griffin
Anita Griffin is a product of HISD and has 24 years of experience in the district. During the span of her career, she taught English at both M.C. Williams and Hartman Middle Schools. She gained additional teaching experience at James Madison High School where she was an English teacher and cheer coach for nine years; from there, she transitioned to the role of Literacy Specialist for the South Region of the district. Following, Ms. Griffin returned to her passion of teaching English at both North Houston Early College High School and Waltrip High School before transitioning to the role of counselor at Waltrip.
She is honored and enthusiastic about supporting students on academic and social-emotional levels. In addition to school counselor, she has been a co-sponsor of Women of Waltrip (WOW) – a girl’s organization that fosters relationships among the young ladies of Waltrip and cultivates community through community service.
Ms. Griffin earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Radio/Television Communications and her Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. Presently, she holds certifications in the areas of English, English as a Second Language, and School Counseling.
