A computer is a machine that performs specific jobs by following very specific directions.  The person using the computer privides the computer with information that it needs to perform these specific jobs. The computer takes that information, processes it and produces output such as images on a screen or sounds from its speakers. A computer can also save whatever output is created for future use.
