My name is Shaniquwa Finley-Carter. I am the Middle School Counselor at The Rice School La Escuela Rice K-8.

I am originally from Dallas, Texas, and a proud mother of three wonderfully vibrant children. I graduated from Prairie A&M University, where I received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Counseling. I have served as a secondary counselor for over 10 years. Majority of my counseling career has been spent in various surrounding school districts before returning to Houston ISD.

My role as a school counselor has truly been rewarding and exciting.  I really enjoy working with students, teachers, the administrative team, and parents who are vested in educational success of every child.  As a school counselor I am the first line of support for each student and my belief is to always encourage all students to strive to achieve their goals as they journey through adolescence.
