Ms. Roxanne Green
Roxanne Green is the dance instructor for Jane Long Academy and Las Americas Newcomer School. She started her dance training in Galveston, TX at the age of 2 with Isabel McKenna. She was one of Mother Ginger’s children in the Nutcracker ballet with Houston Ballet at age 3 and was chosen to dance with Patrick Swayze in Sleeping Beauty at age 7. She later took classes at Ruth Elgin’s studio in Texas City and was an officer in the Ball High School Tornettes under the direction of Barbara Crow. She earned an Associates Degree in Mid-Management from Galveston College and a Bachelor of Performing Arts Dance Degree from Oklahoma City University, where she was a member of the American Spirit Dance Company.
Ms. Green has performed in many stage productions, including the Marie Osmond & Bros Show, in which she was also an assistant choreographer, and the Vic Damone Show. Some of the films in which she has appeared are: “Warning: Parental Advisory” with Mariel Hemingway and Jason Priestly, “Love and Mary,” in which she appeared with her daughter Corinne and was a stand-in for the lead Lauren German, appeared with both her daughter and son Brian in “Foster Care,” and was a dancer in “The Marianao Kid.”
Ms. Green has made numerous stage appearances in the Galveston area, some of which have been at the 1894 Grand Opera House, including “Chicago,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” and the Victor Costa Fashion Show. Her appearances on the College of the Mainland stage have been in “Carnival,” the role of Judy in “A Chorus Line,” and the role of Shelby in “Breakfast With Les and Bess.”
After beginning her choreography experience with musicals in high school, Ms. Green has choreographed many musicals, including, “Spamalot,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Dames at Sea,” “The Wind in the Willows,” and the operetta “The Student Prince”. She was the choreographer and director of the Central Majorettes. Locally, she has been a dancer with Discovery Dance Group, the Carl Siberon Dancers, and Act I Conservatory and Liturgical Company. Ms. Green was also an original member of The Comedy Zone Comedy Troupe.
Ms. Green placed in an international tap competition which was judged by tap greats Charles “Honi” Coles, Savion Glover, and Brenda Buffalino. She has taught tap to Val Chmerkovskiy from Dancing With the Stars and continues taking classes with professionals from all over the world as often as possible. She has been the owner of Dancemobile for over 30 years, holding classes in daycare centers and private schools and choreographing dances for weddings, quinceaneras, musicals, fashion shows, and parties.
