Hartman Book Club
The Hartman Book club is a great way to get our students excited about reading and writing! It involves discussing books that students have read. Students work together to bring life to the stories they’ve read by talking about them while simultaneously reinforcing comprehension skills and providing a fun outlet for creativity.
By working in groups, students learn how to make meaningful connections between their reading and their world, how to articulate their thoughts, and how to respectfully disagree with one another.
Book club can help foster empathy as it encourages readers to think deeply about different characters’ experiences – helping them consider if they would act differently under similar circumstances themselves.
