School History:Hartman Middle School is named after a local educator, military veteran and philanthropist, Charles F. Hartman. Mr. Hartman began his Houston teaching career at the old Heights Senior High School (now Hamilton Middle School). He served as principal of both that school and Stonewall Jackson Junior High (now Navarro Middle School). Hartman also served as an army officer in both World Wars. Hartman Middle School was built in 1954. A new facility, which retained and renovated the original gymnasium and auditorium, was completed in 2007.
