The mission of the Career and Technical Education Department (CTE) is to empower students with the academic and technical skills needed to strengthen the economic and social foundation of the city of Houston and beyond.
The SHMSTC offers six career and technical pathways: Architecture and Construction, Cosmetology, Project Lead the Way: Biomedical Sciences, Information Technology, Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). Through these programs, students earn certifications preparing them for work in these fields.

Construction - Plumbing
1st yr - Principles of Architecture & Construction/Principles of Manufacturing - 1 credit
2nd yr - Piping & Plumbing Technology - 2 credits
3rd yr - Advanced Piping/Plumbing Technology - 2 credits
Human Services - Cosmetology
1st yr - Introduction to Cosmetology - 1 credit
2nd yr - Cosmetology I- 3 credits
3rd yr - Cosmetology II- 3 credits
