    Debate is an activity that helps prepare you for college. Vocabulary expands helping on college entrance tests (SAT and ACT), your writing improves and you will gain confidence to speak and express your ideas. In addition, you will rapidly become interested in the world around you. This enables you to achieve success for yourself, your family and your community!

    We have a proud history of debate going back to the 1920's in this picture (center) is one of Sam Houston's first debate coaches: Lyndon Baines Johnson who becomes president of the United States 40 years later!
